As a exporting mold maker in China, Comparing with the domestic mold , exporting mold prices is definitly higher at the past years, the gap is caused by diffriend standard. The American Society of Plastic Industry (SPIAN-102-78) divides the mold into five categories. These five types of molds have different requirements, and the classification standard is only applicable to match the injection machine which clamping force less than 400 tons.

Life cycle times up to 1 million times, special for high production capacity of the product. Choosing the best mold steel to manufacture, corresponding this grade mold need the highest price. The requirements are shown as follows:

(1) Need to have detailed mold design information.
(2) Mold base hardness requirements at least BHN280 (HRC30).
(3) Mold surface (including cavity and core molds) at least in the BHN450 (48HRC) hardness range, all other accessories such as sliders, lifters, straight lifters, etc. should be harden.
(4) The ejection system shall have a guiding system.
(5) The side slider must be fitted with a wear plate.
(6) Cavity mold, core mold, slider and other parts in the mold should installed with the temperature-sensing.
(7) About mold life, the product quality will be decreased or molding cycle-time be extended due to cooling water pipe was corroded day by day, so the inserts or mold plates were advised to do anti-corrosion treatment.
(8) All this grade molds shall be fitted with a mold clamping mechanism at parting line.

GRADE 2

Life cycle times up to 500,000 to 1, 000,000 times. To produce large-scale products, better quality steel will be used to manufacture, expensive price. The requirements are as follows:

(1) need to have detailed mold design information.
(2) Mold base hardness requirements at least BHN280 (HRC30).
(3) Cavity and core surface hardness shall be in the range of BHN540 (HRC 48), all other functional fittings should be heat treated.
(4) Install the temperature-sensing on the cavity mold, core mold, sliders and other possible place.
(5) All molds of this type shall be fitted with a mold clamping mechanism between the parting line surface.
(6) The below items possibilities are required or not, depending on the final production quantity. It is advised that these items also make a confirmed quotation.
Ejector guiding system, Slider wear plate, anti-erosion Colling manifold, Electroplating on the cavity mold(anti-corrosion).

GRADE 3

Cycle times up to 500,000 times. Used as the middle quantity production of products, the price is reasonable. The requirements are as follows:

(1) need to have detailed mold design information.
(2) Mold base hardness requirements at least BHN165 (HRC17).
(3) cavity and core molds must have at least BHN280 (HRC30) hardness or more.
(4) all other accessories are free to choose by suppliers.

GRADE 4

Life cycle times up to 100,000 times. For low production capacity of products, mold material wear resistance is not high, the price is lower than the normal level. The requirements are as follows:

(1) Suggest to providing mold design information.
(2) The mold base could be mild steel or aluminum metal.
(3) The cavity mold could be aluminum metal, mild steel or other material that can be identified.
(4) All accessories are free to choose by suppliers.

GRADE 5

Cycle times no more than 500 times. Used to produce a limited number of the initial sample, the price is very cheap. The requirements are as follows:

The mold structure may be a die-cast material, an epoxy resin, or other material that provides sufficient strength to produce the lowest number of parts.
